ISO TMB is one of the three ISO central management bodies and responsible for the overall management of structure and activities of technical committees and other strategic advisory bodies. Based on the decisions of the ISO TMB, international technical committees for standardization are created or disbanded, the chairpersons of international TC are appointed and their secretariats are fixed, the procedures for the activities of the TC and the development of standards are updated, controversial issues (appeals) in the field of international standardization within ISO are considered. Besides, within the framework of the ISO TRB the most effective international technical committees become the winners of the annual L.D.Eicher Award.

Membership in ISO TMB is elective. Currently, TMB ISO operates in the following composition: Australia, Argentina, Brazil, Great Britain, Germany, India, Canada, China, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Norway, Russian Federation, USA, France, Japan. The Chairman of the ISO TMB is the ISO Vice-President for Technical Management, Ms. Sauw Kook Choy (Singapore). Anton Shalaev was a member of the ISO TMB in 2016-2018, and in 2019 he was re-elected for another three-year term.

A wide range of issues were considered during the meeting. In particular, was presented a report on the results of the evaluation of the international standard ISO 26000 "Guidelines for Social Responsibility". Developed in 2010 by a group of experts representing more than 90 countries and professional associations, the standard has become one of the most applicable and widely distributed in the world. Many states have adopted it as a national document on standardization (including the Russian Federation in 2012). In accordance with the adopted resolutions, this standard does not currently require revision.

In addition, based on the results of the ISO TMB meeting, it was decided to form two new special advisory groups – "Standardization in the field of "smart" agriculture" and "Ecological, social and management Ecosystem".

The next meeting of the ISO TMB will be held on the sidelines of the ISO General Assembly in September 2021, also via videoconference.
