RUSSIA REGAINS POSITIONS IN THE INTERNATIONAL CERTIFICATION SYSTEM OF ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS

ST. PETERSBURG, January 29, 2021 –In accordance with order of the Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Yuri Borisov, Rosstandart has ensured the membership of the Russian Federation in the IEC certification system. Thus, the barrier to the export of Russian electronic components will be overcame. Previously, it was necessary to confirm the compliance of relevant domestic products with the requirements of IEC standards in foreign testing laboratories and certification centers. From now on, Russia will once again take a full part in this international system.

As a result, in December 2020 IECQ Secretariat confirmed that Rosstandart obtained full membership in the IECQ by successful completion of the first accreditation by the Russian Certification Association "Russian Register".

During a working visit to St. Petersburg Head of the Federal Agency on Technical Regulating and Metrology Mr. Anton Shalaev congratulated the Russian Register team, headed by Director General Arkady Vladimirtsev on behalf of the IECQ Central Secretariat and Rosstandart. He noted a decent level of preparation for the upcoming work and stressed the high responsibility of the management and expert staff of the Association.

The experience of Russia's participation in other IEC conformity assessment systems has shown that domestic electrical products have a stable reputation on foreign markets. Owing to the strict rules of operation in the IEC conformity assessment systems, including the rules of procedure for mutual evaluation of certification bodies and testing laboratories of the systems.

At the beginning of 2021, another Russian certification body is preparing to pass the accreditation procedure in IECQ.
