CIS heads of government sign agreement about standard samples

MOSCOW, October 28, 2019 – The Agreement about cooperation in the development, production and application of standard samples of the composition and properties of substances and materials was signed on October 25 in Moscow at a meeting of the Council of CIS heads of government. For the first time, the agreement on this topic was signed by the heads of government, which gives the agreements a special status and importance.
The document was signed by the heads of governments of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. The agreement was prepared by the Interstate Council for standardization, metrology and certification with the participation of the CIS Executive Committee.
The document provides coordinated work on the creation of interstate standard samples in order to ensure the unity of the required accuracy of measurements, which will increase the level of quality control and safety of products, life and health of citizens and the environment.
The main purpose of the document is to eliminate technical barriers in trade, economic, scientific, technical and other areas of cooperation, as well as to meet the needs of States in standard samples of substances and materials. In the context of the current legislation revision in the field of metrology in many CIS member states, the signing of an intergovernmental agreement will become the basis for the application of interstate standards in the field of legal metrology.
Interstate standard samples – national standard samples of the approved types intended for application in the sphere of the state metrological control and supervision, the state regulation of ensuring unity of measurements. They are applied in the CIS countries that have joined their recognition. Being a mobile and accessible means, interstate standard samples as standards are in demand and widely used in the field of state regulation in the field of ensuring the unity of measurements.
