Publication date:

MOSCOW. May 15, 2019 – The 15th Moscow International Innovation Exhibition and Forum titled ‘Precision  Measurements  – the Basis of Quality and Safety’ opened in Moscow. Head of the Federal Agency on Technical Regulating and Metrology Alexey Abramov made a welcoming speech.
“Metrology is penetrating deeper into different spheres of human activity – industrial, social, and service industry. This surely affects the quality of our lives. We often fail to notice that it is thanks to measuring technology that information becomes more accessible and closer to people. New information gives us new opportunities,” underlined  A.Abramov.
The exhibition’s opening was attended by Board Member (Minister) for Technical Regulation of the Eurasian Economic Commission Viktor Nazarenko, Director of the Department of State Policy in the field of  Technical Regulation, and Ensuring the Unity of Measurements of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Oksana Mezentseva, Head of the Federal Service for Accreditation (RusAccreditation) Alexey Khersontsev, Head of the Russian Quality System  (Roskachestvo) Maksim Protasov, First Deputy Head of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs’ Committee on Technical Regulation, Standardization, and Conformity Assessment Andrey Lotsmanov.
After the festive opening of the exhibition and forum, Deputy Head of Rosstandart Sergey Golubev suggested starting a plenary session of the Russian National Congress of Metrologists and Instrument Manufacturers. The key theme was the transition to the new International System of Units (SI), which will finally take place on the World Metrology Day, May 20. As S.Golubev noted, the transition to the new system of units will require assistance of the entire metrological community.
The annual event on the occasion of the World Metrology Day includes the latest products by Russian and foreign instrument makers. Exhibition and forum visitors will see the most accurate matchbox-size watches in Russia and remote verification of tonometers for telehealthcare.
As part of the business programme, it is planned to discuss different measures to support domestic instrument makers, aspects of training engineers for the digital economy, prospects for the development of engineering education, metrological support for new technology and other development issues in the digital economy context.
Over the three days, Rosstandart experts will be answering a variety of questions related to ensuring the uniformity of measurements, modern instrumentation base, and technology of Russian enterprises.
